Why is America Lost?

Franklin Graham has made a plea for us to unitedly pray for America.  I have been thinking about our country and why we are so lost.  The Lord gave me this thought that I want to share with you.

In John 8:58 Jesus declared, “before Abraham was born I am.  I AM what, you may ask.  He is saying, “I am everything you need.”

Currently, America has asked the Great I AM to depart from our country, telling Him that we do not need His help.  We are sufficient in ourselves to accomplish what we want.  Therefore God has let us have our way.

We have asked Love Himself to leave, therefore hate is rampant in our country.

We have asked the Giver of Life to scram, hence death, murder, suicide, and abortion are on the rise.

We have asked to have The Light of the World turned off, therefore we are trodding along, stumbling over the wrecks of our own making, not even knowing where we are going but hoping we make it.  James 1:17 says “every good and perfect gift comes from above, coming down from the Father of lights.” When we want the light turned off we are also asking for bad and imperfect things.

We have asked the Great Physician to close His practice here and we wonder why there are hurting, broken, dying people everywhere around us.

We have requested that the All Sufficient leave us to our own sufficiency, and we are finding that we are completely insufficient for whatever we face.

We have asked the God of Peace to let us fight our own wars, and therefore defeat and chaos are the result of our efforts.

We stand, bound in chains of pride, hatred, envy, lust, sexual immorality, idolatry, substance abuse, self-righteousness- all because the only One who can set us free has been asked to leave us alone.

You see my friend, God will never stop being the great I Am, but if we do not beg forgiveness and turn from our sin than the Great I Am will let us see that we are the ultimate, We Are Not.  We are not good, we are not victorious, we do not have peace, we destroy life, we are completely insufficient, and our land will never heal because, even though we are dying, we convince ourselves that we aren’t even sick.

Let us come together, pounding the gates of heaven, and ask that the Lord hear our prayers, forgive our sins, and heal our land.  May we, as Christians, stand firm in our beliefs.  May our lights shine brightly in the darkness and point to the Way, the Truth and the Life.  More than ever, we need to be different from the world around us. They need to see people who are completely reliant on Jesus; those being held up by His strength, during these times of turbulence .

“Father, we have spit on your holiness, we have mocked Your ways, and we have asked for you to leave our country.  Now, however,  we come before you with nothing in our hands to bring you, except for the mess we’ve made, and humbly cry out for Your forgiveness.  Without You, we as people, and as a nation, are nothing.  May the eyes of the blind be opened to their need of a Savior.  May we, as Christians, stop living a life of mediocrity and may we be all in for you. Please heal our land, but first please heal us as individuals.  We are broken and needy.  We need the Great I Am.

In Your Son’s Precious and Holy Name, The Name Of Jesus,

Amen
